There are a lot of guys out there that mistreat girls. I want you girls to know. And there’s a lot of girls out there that mistreat guys, I want you guys to know. And there’s a lot of times when we make promises to ourselves and to our God and we break them. And this is how the devil works. He says, “come here and do this, everybody’s doing this, you know you have to do this. If you don’t do this, you’re not cool. If you don’t do this, you’re gonna depress yourself and you’re not gonna have any fun in life. What’s wrong with you? You gotta do this, do this, come on, you want this and you need it.” And right after you do it he turns around and says, “look what you did. Look what you did. You’re not gonna be worth anything anymore.” And that’s how the devil works. He is such a liar, he is such a liar. And the way you can tell the difference between when he’s lying to you or not is by what the word of God says. And I know that that’s a lot to believe in, and I can’t go into it, and I can talk to you for ten hours about why I think the Bible is the word of God, but I’m just gonna say if you wanna know what I think, I believe it. I used to not. I used to be an atheist who thought believing in God was like believing in the tooth fairy, and then God became real to me, and I pray that tonight God will be real to you. As much as everybody thinks, you know, in their head we wanna believe in a good God who loves us, don’t we? We want to. I mean it’s not that we don’t want that. The problem is that we do have a real enemy that’s gonna come against us and tell us lies that has half truth in it. And we think if this is true, then this must be true, but that’s not it. And we don’t need to try and find a faith or religion that fits the way that we live because we can make up whatever we want and then live however we want. And that’s not the deal, we wanna know what the truth is. Is there a God who cares about our lives who cares about how we live and how we treat each other? I believe that he does. I believe that he does so much that I would be dead if it wasn’t true. I’d just call it quits right now, but I know that it is true. And if you’re wondering and you care what I think, I don’t know why you’d care, but I totally believe it. That’s how you tell the difference between the truth and the lies by what the word of God says. And that’s just, I don’t know. So this song we’re about to play is just about how sometimes we make mistakes and sometimes we feel like we can’t start over because of those mistakes, because of the way the devil lies to us. But if we never sin and never made mistakes we would never need a Jesus, but we have Jesus because Jesus means that when we come to him he forgives us of our sins and we repent and we confess our sins and he forgives us. And not only does he forgive us for every sin we’ve ever committed and everything we’ll ever do, he gives us the strength to not fall into the same sin over and over again. He gives us the strength to live like he asked us to live. And when people ask if Jesus Christ rose from the dead and is alive today, the answer should be yes because of every Christian here who is living out Jesus Christ - what he asked us to do in our lives, how he asked us to live. The reason why the answer’s yes is because we have this strength in us, we’ve been strengthened to love each other the way that the world doesn’t teach us to love each other – to love our enemies and to forgive each other when there’s no reason to forgive each other except that Jesus forgave us for everything we did. And so this song is about how you can start over. And God uses everything in the past, everything bad that doesn’t make any sense and uses it for good. When I was younger, I would never have, and moms were lined up against the wall I would never have said, “Hey God, I want that mom and I want that life. I want to go through everything that we went through together and I want to have that kind of hell. That’s what I want for my life, God.” I would never have picked that life for myself growing up, but God knew what he was doing. And everything I went through turned out to make songs like we write that touch people that have to go through the same kind of things. And if I hadn’t gotten through it or went through it, I wouldn’t be here. And I’m just talking about how God makes good out of bad, usually all the time, he can always do that. It’s just that God works everything together for the good of those who love him. The reason why we want to change our lives is because of his kindness, not because he’s gonna love us more, because he loves us all the time, right where we are, no matter what you’re doing with your life, he loves you so much. And when you do right, he’s not gonna love you any more. We don’t do right because he loves us more, we do right to thank him for loving us all the time no matter what. That’s why we try to do what he asks us to do. That’s why we try to live for him. That’s why we play music. That’s why we keep going. That’s why we try to go against where everything the world tells us, live in the world we live in and still try to honor our God in front of people. And that’s all, just because of his kindness.
